Phoenix Suns First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Clippers Series)

Updated:

The Phoenix Suns are officially headed back to the NBA Playoffs after a successful 2022-23 season. This contender has its sights set on finally capturing the Larry O'Brien trophy, but first up is an opening round series against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Here's everything you need to know about the Suns-Clippers first round series.

What Seed Are the Suns in the 2023 NBA Playoffs?

The Suns ended the 2022-23 regular season with a 45-37 record, which was good enough to finish No. 4 in the Western Conference. As is tradition, the 4-seed faces the 5-seed in the first round of the playoffs. The Clippers concluded the campaign as the No. 5 team in the west after posting a 44-38 record.

Los Angeles actually tied with the Golden State Warriors, who also had a 44-38 record, but the Clippers won the head-to-head tiebreaker against GS, which put them ahead in the standings and set up a date with the Suns in the first round.

Who Are the Suns Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?

As the 4-seed, the Suns play the 5-seed Clippers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Phoenix) will host Game 1 and 2, plus Game 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Los Angeles) hosts Game 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.

Looking ahead, if the Suns win this series and advance, they would face either the 1-seed Denver Nuggets or the to-be-determined 8-seed in the Western Conference semifinals, as the NBA playoff matchups do not re-seed in each round.
