Yan vs Dvalishvili Prediction

Petr Yan heads into UFC Las Vegas in desperate need of a bounce-back win. The former bantamweight champion has lost back-to-back outings for the first time in his MMA career, most recently falling to Sean O'Malley by split decision at UFC 280.

Standing in Yan's way is the red-hot Merab Dvalishvili, who's rattled off eight straight victories. Seven of those wins came by unanimous decision, which includes the Georgian fighter's latest victory over Jose Aldo back in August.

Though Dvalishvili has the momentum, I do like Yan winning this weekend. For starters, Yan has the obvious striking edge, averaging more significant strikes per minute (5.31) with better accuracy (53%) than Dvalishvili (4.21 and 40%, respectively).

And while Dvalishvili managed to grind out a win against a legendary defensive grappler in Jose Aldo, yan has a 90% takedown defense rate of his own, which includes holding Merab's teammate Aljamain Sterling to just 3 takedowns on 39 attempts in their two fights.

Also possessing the experience in five-round fights that comes with being a former champion, I fully expect Yan to get back on track in what should be a hard-hitting main event.
