The Carolina Panthers snapped a brief two-game winning streak in Week 15 with a subpar performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Sam Darnold was a nonfactor in the loss, tossing just 1 touchdown and logging only 225 passing yards.
Despite the below-average performance, head coach Steve Wilks is not ready to make yet another change at QB. On Monday, he announced the starting quarterback for Week 16 against the Detroit Lions.

Wilks indicated early on that Darnold will start in Saturday's clash, which suddenly has huge playoff implications for at least one of the teams involved.
He also went on to give a decent review of the young quarterback, saying Darnold "made good throws stepping up in the pocket," among other things.
Darnold hasn't impressed in his three games for the Panthers this year, although he hasn't been terrible, either. At this point, Carolina must be biding their time for the 2023 NFL Draft, when the franchise should be eager to select a potential franchise QB.
As things stand, the Panthers are currently 2.5-point home underdogs against the surging Lions on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
