The NL Wild Card round of the 2022 MLB Playoffs continues with Game 2 of the San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets series. Game 1 was an ugly one for Mets fans as the home team lost, 7-1, to the Padres after New York starter Max Scherzer gave up seven runs over 4.2 innings.
Can the Padres win on Saturday to advance to the NL Division Series for just the second time since 2007? Or will the Mets put their recent struggles behind them to rally and force Game 3 on Sunday?

Padres vs Mets Prediction & Pick
The Mets hoped that their late-season collapse would be a distant memory once the playoffs began. Spoiler alert: it wasn't. Now, New York turns to Jacob deGrom to save their postseason hopes and while the two-time Cy Young winner has proven himself in the past, he's struggled lately.
deGrom is 0-3 with a 6.00 ERA in his last four starts, having not won a game since Sept. 7. Regardless of his past accomplishments, I don't like his recent struggles combined with the Padres' offensive firepower shown in Game 1. As great as deGrom can be, the Mets have been playing on borrowed time for a while now and I expect this to be their last game until 2023.
Final Score Prediction: Padres: 5 | Mets: 3
Padres vs Mets Probable Starting Pitchers
The matchup on the mound for this contest is set with the San Diego Padres looking to Blake Snell (8-10, 3.38 ERA) and Jacob deGrom (5-4, 3.08 ERA) taking the ball for the New York Mets.
