Padres Get Great News With Latest Wil Myers Injury Update

Updated:

The San Diego Padres are in the midst of a tight NL Wild Card race. While they aren't completely out of the division yet, they do trail the Los Angeles Dodgers by 7.5 games as of Tuesday morning. The good news is they will be getting some reinforcements back soon in the form of Wil Myers.

Wil Myers Injury Update

It was announced on Tuesday that Myers will be making his first rehab start for the Lake Elsinore Storm.

Myers has only played in 32 games so far this year as he's been sidelined with knee inflammation. The Padres starting right fielder struggled a bit to start the year, only slashing .234/.276/.306 with one home run, down across the board from his .253/.328/.441 career averages.

These slumps could be attributed to dealing with injuries, so getting him back in the lineup will be a welcomed addition for San Diego. There's no exact timetable for Myers' return yet, but it's encouraging to see him back out on the field.

The Padres currently own +1800 odds to win the 2022 World Series, tied for 9th-best in the MLB, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
