Packers' Potential Return for Aaron Rodgers Trade Revealed
Updated:
It appears the Green Bay Packers' quarterback saga could be coming to an end very soon. With the team seemingly leaning toward Jordan Love as its new starter, the attention has turned to what a trade of Aaron Rodgers would look like.
Now the potential return value of a Rodgers deal has been revealed.
NFL insiders Daniel Jeremiah and Rich Eisen both discussed the rumors around a Rodgers trade at the combine. Based on the things he's heard "in the halls" at this scouting event, Jeremiah said he thinks the four-time MVP will become a New York Jet and it won't cost a first-round pick to acquire him.
Moving a player of Rodgers' caliber for less than a first-rounder is bound to disappoint most fans. Though he's coming off of a down year, he also lost his most-trusted wideout that offseason and was surrounded by inexperienced pass-catchers around him. Prior to 2022, Rodgers was a back-to-back MVP as well, so it's clear he can still play at a high level in the latter stage of his career.
Even if Green Bay doesn't get a first-round pick, it's possible the team gets several selections in a package, like multiple second- or third-rounders. That would give the Packers some serious capital to embrace a full-scale rebuild, or explore veteran trade options if they want to reload.
