Only One Player in NFL History Has Picked Off Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers

Updated:

With the emergence of some incredible young quarterbacks, punctuated by Patrick Mahomes' massive new contract, it looks like the NFL is finally seeing a changing of the guard in the elite quarterback tier.

For the better part of the last two decades, however, there has been a clear elite class, highlighted by Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers.

Even the greats throw interceptions though, and those four (through the 2019 season) have thrown a combined 835 picks (playoffs included).

Even with all of those interceptions thrown there'st still only one player that can make the incredible claim to have have picked off all four at the NFL level: Tanard Jackson.

You can be forgiven if the name doesn't ring a bell. Jackson played 57 games in five NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2007 to 2011 before failing to see the field with the Washington Redskins at the tail end of his career, ended up being suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Possibly the most incredible thing about this feat for Jackson is how little opportunity he had to do it. Playing in only one conference and in only one playoff game, it's not like Manning and Brady were regular opponents for him. Jackson faced the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts only once each (and the Green Bay Packers just twice) in his career.

For a guy with just 10 picks to his name, it's pretty phenomenal to have 4 come against four of the best passers the game has ever seen.

The list of QBs that made up Jackson's other 6 interceptions isn't as impressive, but has a couple big names on it: Matt Hasselbeck, Jay Cutler, Jake Delhomme (twice), Matt Ryan and Kurt Warner.

Jackson may not end up on anyone's list of all-time great defensive backs, but this is certainly an all-time great accomplishment. With Manning retired and the other three likely following suit within the next few years, Jackson could very well remain the only player to ever achieve this feat.
