NHL Prop Betting How-To Guide for FanDuel Sportsbook

Hockey is surging in popularity, and to match the public interest ramping up, FanDuel Sportsbook is also ramping up their NHL betting offerings.

Some of these increased offerings come in the way of a wide variety of prop bets for each game.

NHL Prop Bets

First Goal Scorer

One of the most popular NHL prop bets, the first goal scorer bet is exactly what it sounds like. You wager on which player will score the first goal in the game.

Typically there will be upward of 20 players available for this bet, so whether you want to roll with a scoring star like Leon Draisaitl or want to take a long-shot underdog for a big potential payout, you have plenty of options.

Over/Under: Player Goals, Points, Assists & Shots

These bets are simple. A number of players in the game will have a line set on a potential total for each of the stats listed above. You then bet on whether they will record over or under that number.

For example, Auston Matthews' over/under for goals in a given game may be set at 0.5, with +114 odds on the over and -140 odds on the under. If he scores a single goal, the over hits and a winning bet pays out $114 for every $100 wagered. If he goes under that total (scoring zero goals), a winning bet of $140 on the under would return $100.

Goalie Props

Goalies get a couple different types of prop bets.

The over/under saves bet works exactly like the goals, points, assists & shots prop bets above.

The other is a shutout prop bet, which is a simple "yes/no" proposition. If you think a goalie is going to hold the opposing team to zero goals, you can go ahead and place a bet on the "yes" side.

Other Best Prop Bets

FanDuel also offers a wide variety of prop bets for NHL games.

Many of these are additional "yes/no" bets, which can include wagers like whether the game will go to overtime or whether both teams will score goals.
