Najee Harris Injury Update Is Scary for 2022 Fantasy Outlook
Updated:
One of the most frustrating parts of fantasy football is dealing with injuries. That holds true whether we're talking about actual missed time or just players who are banged up and have an uncertain status. This season it looks like fantasy managers who roll the dice on Najee Harris will be dealing with some of that uncertainty.
Najee Harris Injury Update
An obvious first-round pick before the injury news, Harris' fantasy football outlook suddenly took a drastic shift with the announcement of his sprained lisfranc.
With August 28 putting him four weeks out of an injury that entails a four-to-six week recovery timeline, he could very well be questionable (or at least have his effectiveness limited) in Week 1. The concern goes much further than just the first week of the season too.
Foot injuries are incredibly tricky, and they're the kind of thing that can linger or be reaggravated pretty easily. Realistically, fantasy managers will probably want Harris to be sidelined in Week 1 to make sure he is fully recovered. The last thing you want to see is him suiting up to start the season only to turn the injury into a more serious one.
Najee Harris Fantasy Outlook
With no official word of missed games coming, you're probably not going to see Harris fall very much in most fantasy leagues. Managers will be enamored with his upside and be willing to take on what they might think is a minor risk of one or two limited games. Let them be the ones to take that risk.
With an average draft position (ADP) of 6.7, you can't afford to take on this additional layer of risk. If the elite running backs are off the board and you're looking to go RB with the sixth or seventh pick, instead turn your attention to someone like Dalvin Cook or even Joe Mixon.
If we get some positive news on Harris' recovery in the next week this outlook could change, but if you're drafting before any updates are made public then you're going to want to take the safe approach and avoid Harris in the middle of Round 1.
