Los Angeles Weather: Thursday Forecast for 2023 U.S. Open Round 1 Includes Cloudy Skies

Updated:

The U.S. Open is finally here, which means golf fans and bettors alike are looking forward to the start of the tournament on Thursday, June 15 at Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, California.

While many are curious about who will win the third major of the season, viewers should also monitor the weather forecast for the first day of the tournament before placing any bets. That's because the weather could have a considerable impact on playing conditions and who makes the cut after Day 2.

Los Angeles Country Club Weather

Like all outdoor sporting events, the U.S. Open is at the mercy of Mother Nature. That was the case during the PGA Championship last month at Oak Hill as chilly weather conditions caused a frost delay before play even began. Temperatures hovered around freezing at times, but the event then went on as planned and Brooks Koepka earned his ninth career PGA Tour victory with a great performance.

Frost won't be an issue this weekend in Los Angeles with summer just around the corner. Without a threat of precipitation, golfers will need to prepare to stay hydrated and make sure they do not overexert themselves under what is usually a shining sun.

U.S. Open Weather Thursday Round 1

The weather forecast for Day 1 of the U.S. Open on Thursday looks great. According to AccuWeather, the forecast calls for a pleasant late-spring day with a high of 72 degrees. The day will be mostly cloudy with 100% cloud cover and a slight breeze of 8 mph with gusts likely to reach up to 13 mph.

Golfers with early tee times may need to keep an eye on the course conditions as the morning temperature sits just above Los Angeles' dew point. Humidity checks in at a high mark of 77%, which has been known to cause golf balls to fly farther on strikes. Cloud cover is not expected to impact visibility too much, though, as it remains projected at 10 miles.
