Likely Brandon Drury Free Agency Price Tag Revealed
Updated:
It's been less than a week since the World Series ended and teams around baseball already have their eyes on free agency. That includes the San Diego Padres, who have yet to make a decision regarding the future of Brandon Drury.
Drury officially became a free agent on Sunday, and now MLB insider Kiley McDaniel has revealed the expected price tag on his next contract.
Brandon Drury Contract
McDaniel believes Drury will obtain a contract worth three years and $33 million, or $11 million in average annual value (AAV). That's a significant bump from his $700K contract with the Cincinnati Reds last year.
Drury joined the Padres at the trade deadline and continued a career campaign, finishing with a .263/.320/.492 slash line alongside personal bests in home runs (28) and RBIs (87).
Last season looks like an outlier compared to Drury's previous seven MLB campaigns and he's now on the wrong side of 30. McDaniel believes teams around baseball view him as more of a utility player rather than an everyday starter based on his overall track record, although he could certainly hit his way into a regular role as he did last year.
