Kyle Pitts Fantasy Outlook Back on Track After Week 3 Showing
Updated:
Fantasy managers with Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts claimed that the sky was falling after entering Week 3 was the TE35 in PPR formats. Remembering the fact that he held an average draft position of 33, making him a third/fourth-round pick, it's easy to see why many people were concerned.
Fortunately, Pitts put most of the doubts to rest after an impressive day against the Seattle Seahawks. The former Florida product hauled in five of his eight targets for 87 receiving yards, giving him 13.7 fantasy points — good for a TE6 rank ahead of Monday Night Football.
Now that Pitts has seemingly found his groove again, his fantasy outlook is back on track.

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith did his best to give Pitts some work, making sure that four of the sophomore's targets came on the opening drive alone. He needs the same type of opportunities going forward if he's going to live up to his preseason expectations.
Another thing to be encouraged by is Pitts' target share. After only seeing 11.5% of targets in Week 2, the 21-year-old's share jumped up to 40% against the Seahawks. Is that sustainable throughout the year? Maybe not, but it goes to show that his connection with quarterback Marcus Mariota is growing.
Sure, Pitts' 67% of snaps played in Week 3 look disappointing on paper. He played at least 84% in the first two weeks, after all. Having said that, his limited time on the field was a result of Atlanta running the ball 31 times compared to its 20 passing plays.
Pitts' next matchup comes in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns. Things won't be easy as the Browns are only surrendering 6.8 fantasy points to TEs (12th-fewest in NFL) and haven't allowed anyone at the position into the end zone just yet.
Regardless, Pitts is still a must-start even in a tough matchup. Mariota should trust him now more than ever after the last outing, meaning another top-10 finish is within the realm of possibility.
