Kei'Trel Clark Scouting Report
Clark committed to Liberty out of high school and finished his freshman season with 50 total tackles (4.0 for loss) to go along with 2.0 sacks and 5 pass breakups. He then transferred to Louisville, where he tallied 36 total tackles (2.0 for loss), 10 pass breakups, and 1 interception during the 2020 season.
Clark stayed reliant in his final two seasons with the Cardinals, logging 91 total tackles (7.5 for loss), 13 pass breakups, 4 interceptions, and 1.0 sack across 20 games played. He garnered recognition as a third-team All-ACC player in 2022 after being named a second-team All-ACC player in 2020 & 2021.
Highlighted strengths of Clark's game center around his work in the nickel position. He succeeded as both a run-stopper as well as a blitzer, regularly stopping opponents in the backfield or just ahead of the line of scrimmage. Clark has been praised for his quick and concise footwork in pass coverage.
Clark is not a prospect without flaws, though, as he allowed huge cushions to receivers in college with the hope of jumping the pass for an interception. That will not fly against elite QB/WR combos in the NFL. Nevertheless, he can easily adjust his style of play to better suit NFL defensive schemes.
Kei'Trel Clark NFL Draft Prediction
Clark's production speaks for itself as he consistently broke up passes and when he wasn't able to, he made the ensuing tackle. A bit of time spent getting stronger in the weight room and learning under the right coaching staff could turn the Cardinals standout into a reliable starter for years to come.
As for Clark's best fit, the Bears stick out as a potential landing spot. Chicago finished 18th in passing yards allowed per game (218.6) and 31st in yards per completion (11.5) last season, which suggests it could use another cornerback or two capable of breaking up passes and being a reliable tackler.
Clark could be utilized as a key depth option in his rookie season or he could even end up giving a guy like Kyler Gordon a run for his money with a strong training camp performance. Anything he can contribute during the 2023 season would be a big boost for the cost of a likely fifth-round draft slot.
Prediction: Chicago Bears (Round 5, 148 overall)
