Keenan Allen Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (Don't Overlook This Consistently Great WR)
Updated:
Keenan Allen may not be the flashiest wide receiver, but he sure does produce. The perennially underrated wideout finished as WR11 in PPR scoring formats last season, averaging at least 16.0 fantasy points for the fifth straight year.
Allen has proven to be a dependable 100-catch, 1,000-yard receiver, and little should change in 2022. His average draft position (ADP) currently pegs him as a top-10 pick at his position and relatively safe choice for anyone in the second or third rounds.
Keenan Allen Fantasy Football Outlook
Allen turned in his fifth straight Pro Bowl season in 2022 with a very familiar stat line. He recorded a career-high 106 receptions along with 1,138 yards and 6 TDs, marking his third season in five years with at least 100 catches and over 1,100 yards.
Few players saw as many targets as Allen did in 2021, ranking eighth in the league with 157. It's abundantly clear the veteran is Justin Herbert's favorite target, and that's a very favorable role to have in a pass-happy offense.
Herbert posted the second-highest passing attempts in the league (672) last season, which allowed Allen to keep up his large target share while Mike Williams saw his looks jump from 85 in 2020 to 129 in 2021. Those two wideouts head into the year as the top weapons once again with no real threats behind them on the depth chart, so there's no reason Herbert can't support them both.
Now entering his age-30 season, it's worth wondering if Allen will finally see his production drop off given the miles he's logged. However, last year showed he's more than capable of putting up WR1 numbers.
Keenan Allen Projections
NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are projecting another 1K-yard season for Allen. His receiving yard over/under currently sits at 1,025.5, with equal -112 odds on both outcomes. He's cleared that mark in six of his nine pro seasons, and with no major changes to his situation, he could end up with a seventh showing of that nature in 2022.
Is Keenan Allen a Good Fantasy Football Pick?
So, is Keenan Allen a good fantasy pick? Yes, absolutely. He's one of the most consistent as his position, racking up 1,000-yard seasons with ease and continually hauling in 100 receptions seemingly every campaign in recent memory.
That dependability might bore people when there's flashier options out there, but Allen can have big games, too. He posted at least 19 PPR fantasy points in seven outings last year, so he's more than up to the task of carrying a lineup on some weeks. With little injury history to speak of recently, Allen is one of the safest top picks out there.
We like Allen to continue his consistency, and have him sitting at WR8 in The Duel's 2022 fantasy football rankings.
