Kareem Hunt Trade Rumors May Be Off
Updated:
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt has been one of the hottest names ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Given the rampant speculation around Hunt being on the move, many believed Monday night could be Hunt's last game in Cleveland.
Yet, that may not be the case anymore.
NFL insider Josina Anderson reports the Browns would "prefer" to keep Hunt instead of sending him somewhere else. Anderson added Cleveland isn't "just going to give him away" despite Hunt's impending free agency.
This is a surprising update given the assumption Hunt would be on the move. Some have speculated the Philadelphia Eagles would add the veteran to bolster their playoff chances. The Los Angeles Rams presented another possible landing spot given their hole in the backfield after missing out on Christian McCaffrey.
However, Hunt played a big role in the Browns' win on Monday night, and they may continue to keep their two-headed backfield intact at the deadline.
There's certainly a risk in keeping Hunt and losing him for nothing this offseason. It remains to be seen if Cleveland gets the offer it's looking for by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
