Julius Brents Scouting Report

Brents landed at Iowa as a 3-star prospect out of high school. He spent two years with the Hawkeyes, but he simply couldn't carve out a role there, playing in just seven games before transferring.

A move to Kansas State did wonders for Brents. He stepped into an immediate starting role in 2021 and took full advantage of it, setting career highs in solo tackles (41) and tackles for loss (3.5) while adding 2 pass breakups and an interception. Brents got even better in 2022, posting personal bests in passes defended (4) and INTs (4).

Brents has plenty of physical strengths going for him. He possesses plenty of speed and combines that with nice size at 6-foot-3 to regularly make plays in the secondary. With both of those key attributes on his side, Brents isn't afraid to be aggressive on the field no matter the matchup.

The CB's desire to change games with a big play can bite him, though, when he's not focused on covering his man. The 24-year-old needs to develop his skills in coverage so he's able to keep up with the precise route-runners at the next level.

Julius Brents NFL Draft Prediction

There are a number of secondaries around the league in need of cornerback talent, especially with the shift to pass-happy offenses. That means Brents, with ball-hawking tendencies and the size to compete with NFL wideouts, should have plenty of interest.

The Philadelphia Eagles make a ton of sense as a landing spot for Brents. This offseason has seen the departure of plenty of veteran talent in Philly, so Howie Roseman must start planning for the future if he wants to build a dynasty. Brents is the type of player that can be molded into something great in the right environment, and the Eagles would provide just that with the likes of Darius Slay and James Bradberry to learn from.

Brents being a late bloomer could push him into the second round, and Philadelphia's in a great spot at No. 62 to scoop him up if he does drop.

Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles (Round 2, 62nd overall)
