Julian Strawther 2023 NBA Draft Profile (Combine Results, Measurements & Scouting Report for Sharpshooting Wing)

Updated:

Gonzaga's Julian Strawther enters the 2023 NBA Draft as one of the more well-known names available. After a career year with the Bulldogs last season, only time will tell if Strawther has more success at the NBA level.

Here's everything you need to know about Julian Strawther before the 2023 NBA Draft.

Julian Strawther Scouting Report and Draft Prediction

Strawther stepped up in a big way in his final season at Gonzaga, averaging a career-high 15.2 points and 6.2 rebounds over 37 games. A big part of his offensive uptick was that he also set new personal bests by averaging 2.2 three-pointers on 40.8% shooting. Once the season finished, he was named first-team All-WCC for his efforts.

On top of his scoring ability, scouts love Strawther's athleticism as he's able to get good height on his jump shots and can move across the court fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, Strawther's dribbling leaves a bit to be desired — especially as he isn't that great with his left hand. He isn't the best at creating his own shots, either. His shooting form has also come into question, leaving time to tell if he can work on getting a more fluid shot in the NBA.

With most mocks projecting Strawther to be a second-round pick, I wouldn't be shocked if the Denver Nuggets took a stab at him with the No. 40 pick.

According to Spotrac, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Michael Porter Jr. are the Nuggets' only wing players officially under contract beyond the 2023-24 season. Secondly, he's a great three-point shooter and would fit in with a Denver squad that shot 37.8% from downtown last season (No. 4 in NBA). It's a low-risk pick with decent upside for the Nuggets.

Prediction: Denver Nuggets (Round 2, 40th overall)
