Jordan Hawkins 2023 NBA Draft Profile (Combine Results, Measurements and Scouting Report for Top Shooting Prospect)

Updated:

UConn Huskies guard Jordan Hawkins enters the 2023 NBA Draft as one of the better prospects available. Boasting the ability to score at important moments, the potential is there for Hawkins to make a serious impact at the next level.

Here's everything you need to know about Jordan Hawkins before the 2023 NBA Draft.

Jordan Hawkins Scouting Report and Draft Prediction

After an uneventful freshman year coming off the bench, Jordan Hawkins looked more comfortable as a sophomore. He was near the top of multiple Big East statistical categories, including points per game (16.2, No. 3), total three-pointers (109, No. 1), three-point percentage (38.8%, No. 2), and win shares (5.7, No. 3). His contributions were a key reason why UConn was able to win the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

He's not a perfect prospect, though. Hawkins lacks in the playmaking department, nor does he have the best dribbling. His three-point shooting is solid, but his 40.9% field-goal percentage shows that he has room to improve inside of the arc. He'll also need to add some serious weight if he hopes to avoid getting bullied in the NBA.

I won't be shocked if the Orlando Magic have their sights set on the talented sharpshooter. After all, the Magic were one of the worst three-point shooting squads this season, averaging 10.8 threes (No. 25) on 31.1 attempts per game (No. 27) with a 34.6% success rate (No. 25).

Scouts look at college players' free-throw percentage as an indication that they'll be a solid three-point threat in the NBA. Considering that Hawkins shot 88.7% from the charity stripe, all signs point to his being able to help Orlando fix its shooting issues.

Hawkins could grow alongside Orlando's young core as a shooting threat. With guards like Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony more than capable of moving the ball, Hawkins could play pressure-free in the backcourt while doing what he does best: shooting.

Prediction: Orlando Magic (Round 1, 11th overall)
