Solecki vs Deaton Prediction
UFC Vegas 70 has a ton of fights on the card that could go either way, but this is not one of them. Joe Solecki is a rightful heavy favorite here as he has won four of his five bouts at the UFC level. Three of those wins came via a decision, including his most recent victory over Alex Da Silva in June of 2022.
While Carl Deaton has been a professional MMA fighter for over a decade, he is set to make his UFC debut on Saturday. The 33-year-old is coming off back-to-back wins in the Michigan Regional scene. Deaton defeated Antoine Blassingame via submission (rear-naked choke) in October of 2022.
It is worth noting that Deaton lost his only fights in 2019 and 2021 via decision, which shows that he struggles when it comes to making an impact in every round. That is not good considering Solecki owns a strike accuracy rate of 56% and a strike defense rate of 50%. His endurance is noteworthy.
I'll side with Joe Solecki to come out on top.
Solecki vs Deaton Best Bet
Bettors wanting to back Solecki in this fight should turn their attention toward a method of victory prop given the 29-year-old's -650 moneyline odds. Solecki has only logged one win in his career via KO/TKO, which makes focusing on a victory via submission or decision the way to go in this bout.
It's worth pointing out that Deaton is a monster on the ground and owns a 9-1 record in fights ending in submission. Three of his five professional losses have come via decision, though. Expect Deaton to come out firing in his debut, but that excitement will leave him forgetful in terms of pacing himself.
Bet: Joe Solecki by Decision (TBD)
