Jalin Hyatt Scouting Report

Hyatt's first two years at Tennessee weren't anything to write home about, but when he got the opportunity in 2022 he showed exactly why the Volunteers loved him coming out of high school. He exploded for 67 catches, 1,267 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, putting him on the radar of every WR-needy team in the NFL.

Hyatt is considered one of the four or five best wideouts in this draft class, and when it comes to an outside and deep threat, he's ranked even higher. He has a huge catch radius and is also excellent at making plays after the catch for his size and length. He's only 6 feet tall but has long arms that make him play even taller and make him a big-play threat in one-on-one situations.

He has a more impressive route tree than just the go route, too, displaying great hands and route-running on slants and outs as well.

That said, Tennessee's non-pro style offense has limited his exposure, on top of only having one real season at the collegiate level of starter experience. He will have to develop a bigger route tree than what he has, despite being great at what we've seen. His ceiling is super high, but there's still some development needed for him to be great at the next level.

Young is far from a perfect prospect, though, as his limited lateral movement makes him a liability when a running back bounces to the outside. His reaction speed needs to be refined when plays quickly change direction as well. Nevertheless, Young has the talent to be molded into an NFL starter.

Jalin Hyatt NFL Draft Prediction

Hyatt displays all the potential to be a serious threat on the outside in the NFL, but with work left to do it would be wise for him to go somewhere that doesn't command him to be "the guy" right out of the gate.

The Seattle Seahawks seem like a great fit. They have a stud wideout in DK Metcalf who Hyatt can play opposite of for a long time and create a very scary duo for NFL defenses. Seattle also has Tyler Lockett, who is fantastic in his own right but will be turning 31 years old shortly after the start of the 2023 season.

This gives Hyatt two incredible wideouts to learn from and sit behind, while also receiving opportunities at the third option in a potentially talented Seahawks offense in 2023 that also includes promising rookie running back Kenneth Walker.

Hyatt is almost unanimously considered a Round 2 pick, and the Seahawks have two Round 2 picks, one of them should be used on Hyatt, it's both a need for the team and the right situation for Hyatt.

Prediction: Seattle Seahawks, Pick No. 37
