After a 6-2 blowout win over the United States in Wednesday's semifinals, all eyes are on Team Canada as they take on the Czech Republic in the World Juniors Hockey Championship gold medal game on Thursday night.
And of course at the forefront of the excitement leading into that game is 17-year-old superstar Connor Bedard — the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Connor Bedard World Juniors Stats and Records
Connor Bedard has been absolute dynamite in the World Juniors this year, and he needs two more points to take sole possession of the second-most points ever scored in a single tournament. That seems like a pretty safe bet given his results so far:
vs. Czech Republic (Dec. 26): 1 goal, 0 assists (1 point)
vs. Germany (Dec. 28): 3 goals, 4 assists (7 points)
vs. Austria (Dec. 29): 2 goals, 4 assists (6 points)
vs. Sweden (Dec. 31): 0 goals, 4 assists (4 points)
vs. Slovakia (Jan. 2, quarterfinal): 2 goals, 1 assist (3 points)
vs. United States (Jan. 4, semifinal): 1 goal, 1 assist (2 point)
Bedard is the first player in 30 years to score over 20 points in a single World Juniors tournament, and he will pass Markus Naslund and Raimo Helminen for the second-most ever if he scores two tonight.
The all-time record, however, is almost certainly outside of Bedard's reach. He would need an absurd 8 points (which would break his own single-game Team Canada record of 7) to to tie the record Peter Forsberg set in 1993.
So how can fans interested in watching Bedard's historic push tune in?
