Has UConn Ever Won a National Championship?
Updated:
The UConn Huskies are one team that college basketball enthusiasts keep an eye on every March. This year is no different as Dan Hurley's team finds itself in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 for the first time in nearly a decade.
With it being quite some time since UConn made a deep March Madness run, Huskies fans wonder just how far this team can go. If it can keep its foot on the gas pedal, would this be the first time that UConn fans celebrate a national championship victory?
UConn National Championship History
UConn has won four NCAA men's basketball National Championships. After winning their first title in 1999, the Huskies went on to win again in 2004, 2011 and 2014.
This is also the 18th time that UConn is making a Sweet 16 appearance. It would technically be the 19th occurrence, however, the NCAA vacated the Huskies' 1996 appearance due to two players accepting gifts from sports agent John Lounsbury.
There's a lot of pressure riding on the Huskies considering how they won a championship the last time they made it past the Sweet 16. Doing so again won't be easy, but history has proven that he can't count UConn out until the dust settles.
