Teixeira vs Hill Prediction

Glover Teixeira has had an up-and-down UFC career, but his dream of being a champion became reality with an exciting submission victory over Jan Blachowicz in October of 2021. The 43-year-old's reign was short-lived, though, as he lost to Jiri Prochazka is a title defense match in June of 2022.

Teixeira needs to get back on track with a statement win on Saturday night and I expect him to do just that. While Jamahal Hill has come back from his first MMA loss by knocking out three straight opponents, he remains a rather inexperienced fighter that relies mainly on his physical attributes.

This is a classic battle between a striker and a grappler, too. Hill's kickboxing background won't come in handy as long as Teixeira is able to use his Jiu-Jitsu experience to absorb the powerful punches. Keep in mind Hill's only MMA loss came at the hands of a grappler via an armbar submission move.

There's noticeable value in taking Teixeira on the moneyline at +132 odds, yet I find myself leaning toward a bigger payout. Odds are set at +240 for Teixeira to win via submission. As mentioned above, Hill will be out of his comfort zone if Teixeira can turn this match into a grappling contest early on.

Teixeira has racked up 10 submission wins in 41 career bouts, which includes each of his most recent two wins in 2020 and 2021. He will not want to get into a striking match against a guy known for his reach and size. That leaves the idea of taking Hill to the ground as the likeliest strategy on Saturday.
