Giants Announce Change to MetLife Stadium Field in 2023

Updated:
There has been a lot of talk around the NFL recently about the danger of turf fields and how they're more likely to cause non-contact injuries than natural grass -- a claim that is supported by data.
The New York Giants and Jets have decided to replace the field at their shared playing venue, MetLife Stadium, in 2023. Despite the raging controversy over turf, the new field will remain artificial grass, much to the players' disappointment.
In a statement to ESPN, MetLife Stadium's people had this to say:
MetLife's field is changed fairly frequently, but the timing of this announcement is bad optics considering that it clearly goes against what coaches and players want.
It doesn't appear that any final decisions have been made yet, but right now only artificial options are seemingly being considered. Maybe the players will finally get their way when the field needs to be replaced again in a few years.
