Browns Week 1 Opponent for 2023 Season

The Cleveland Browns' Week 1 matchup for the 2023 campaign is a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Last season, they opened with a road game on Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers. The Browns emerged victorious by a score of 26-24 as running back Nick Chubb tallied 141 yards on the ground.

Browns' 2023 Strength of Schedule

According to Sharp Football Analysis, the Browns have the 14th-easiest schedule in the NFL for the 2023-24 campaign. This is based on the projected win totals of Cleveland's opponents for the upcoming campaign. Being in the middle of the pack doesn't give the Browns a major advantage or disadvantage after posting a 7-10 record in 2022 with the sixth-hardest schedule.

The Browns' 2023-24 opponents went a combined 100-135-2 last season. They'll have the advantage of facing four teams in the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals that tallied less than five wins during the 2022-23 campaign.

Fanduel Sportsbook's NFL odds currently list the Browns at 9.5 wins, with +110 odds on the over and -134 odds on the under. Cleveland has not won 10 games in a season since the 2020 campaign and has recorded fewer than 10 wins in 14 of the last 15 campaigns overall.

Though the Browns draw some easy opponents from the AFC South and AFC West, they also have to face playoff teams like the Jaguars and 49ers. Cleveland plays in a division where the three other teams each posted a winning record in 2022 as well. Expectations are high in what is quarterback Deshaun Watson's first full year as a starter, but living up to those expectations won't be easy. That's especially the case considering Chubb is the only one of Cleveland's top three running backs from last season set to return. That is a risky move from the front office given how rush-heavy this offense is.

Bet – Browns: Under 9.5 Wins (-134)

In the Super Bowl market, the Browns currently check in with the 13th-best odds at +2800. They trail the Cincinnati Bengals (+1000) and Baltimore Ravens (+1800) in their own division, but they do rate well ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers (+6000).
