Dexcom Super Bowl 2023 Commercial Features Nick Jonas Raising Diabetes Awareness

Another Super Bowl is upon us, which means plenty of star-studded commercials are on the way. After being absent from last year's Super Bowl, Dexcom is returning with another commercial featuring pop musician Nick Jonas.

The ad opens with Nick Jonas placing a Dexcom G7 on his arm, saying that "this small thing is the next big thing in diabetes." He explains that users can then pull up the Dexcom app on their smartphones to monitor their glucose levels. On top of that, the technology can even predict where those levels are heading.

Something like the Dexcom G7 was hard to imagine several years ago, but Jonas assures that there's no magic behind it. He then snaps his fingers and disappears into a cloud of black smoke before his voiceover explains that Dexcom is "power, simple diabetes management."

This is now Jonas' second time doing a Dexcom commercial at the Super Bowl. Tackling the topic is important to the Jonas Brothers member, who was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes when he was 13 years old. He's since raised awareness for the issue throughout his career, whenever possible.

While this ad doesn't have any humor like other Super Bowl commercials, it doesn't a great job of normalizing a serious topic. Having something like diabetes is hard on some people and can lead to them being self-conscious, which is why someone like Jonas needs to show that it's something that even celebrities deal with.

Hopefully, Dexcom's latest ad continues reminding viewers with diabetes that they aren't alone and technology exists to help make their lives easier.
