Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson Set for Expanded Roles Following Rashod Bateman Injury Update

Updated:

Things didn't look good for Rashod Bateman's Week 6 status on Wednesday, and the Baltimore Ravens' injury report on Thursday all but confirms his fate.

Bateman still hasn't practiced this week, and he appears all but a lock to miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Bateman's been great when healthy this season, averaging a ridiculous 28.25 yards per reception, but that explosiveness is exactly why the team doesn't want him playing on an injured foot. He needs to be fully healthy to take the top off the defenses like that, and there's no point in rushing him back and risking re-injury.

His absence meant expanded roles for both Devin Duvernay and Demarcus Robinson in Week 5, and we can expect them both to see significant playing time on Sunday.

Duvernay led Ravens wideouts (trailing only Mark Andrews on the team) with 7 targets against the Cincinnati Bengals, and while Robinson only saw 2 targets, the pair both played over 70% of the team's offensive snaps.

Playing with a depleted wide receiver group did seem to hurt Lamar Jackson, who threw for just 174 yards on 32 pass attempts. Things were especially rough when throwing to anyone except Andrews, going just 11-of-22 for an ugly 85 yards when targeting the rest of his weapons.

Even with these concerns in the passing game, FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Ravens as 6-point favorites on Sunday. Player prop bet options have yet to be released for the game, but Jackson's passing yard under could be an intriguing bet with Bateman on the shelf again.
