Denis Shapovalov Wimbledon Prediction 2023
Denis Shapovalov made a name for himself at Wimbledon in 2021 when he reached the semifinals before losing a battle against Novak Djokovic. That was part of a year in which the young pro posted a 9-3 record on grass courts. However, his efforts on that same surface have nosedived since then.
Check out more 2023 Wimbledon coverage from The Duel:
Shapovalov is just 2-6 on grass over the last two years and has little momentum heading into this year's Wimbledon. The 24-year-old was eliminated in the Round of 32 at the recent Stuttgart Open and was taken out in the Round of 16 at the Halle Open. He went 1-2 on grass during that span.
It's easy to look at Shapovalov's past semifinal appearance and believe he has what it takes to thrive as an underdog. However, the Canadian is only 2-4 in his four Wimbledon appearances outside of 2021. He is just as susceptible to a first-round loss as he is a deep run. Avoid betting on Shapovalov.
