Demario Douglas Scouting Report
Demario Douglas is the type of player that improved with each passing NCAA season. He saved his best campaign at Liberty for last, finishing the 2022 season with career highs in receptions (79) and receiving yards (993) while finding the end zone six times. He was also an active participant on both kickoff and punt return teams.
Douglas is a shifty wideout who's pretty solid with the ball in his hands. He knows how to fake out defenders on his routes and truly excels on vertical plays. He's not the biggest wideout in the class, but his talents more than make up for his lack of height.
Despite a solid amount of speed, Douglas is inconsistent at creating separation. He also has a bad habit of using his body to catch balls rather than his hands. Even though smaller WRs have had NFL success before, Douglas will likely get outmuscled more often than not. He'll need to find creative ways to make up for his lack of size.
Demario Douglas NFL Draft Prediction
Demario Douglas is an interesting case. There's no doubt that he's a menace with the ball in his hands, but his height will have teams thinking twice before drafting him. The fact that his college resume wasn't all that impressive is likely why four of the highlighted mock drafts project for him to be undrafted.
Having said that, I could see the Green Bay Packers taking a swing on Douglas with one of their four seventh-round picks. The team's WR depth is severely lacking beyond Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Jordan Love needs someone to pass this season, so it'd be in the Packers' best interest to take a couple of lottery picks at the position.
If Douglas doesn't work out, it's only a lost seventh-rounder. If he pays off, Green Bay could have a useful player in the passing game or on the return teams for the foreseeable future.
Prediction: Green Bay Packers (Round 7, 235th overall)
