3 Dark Horse Picks to Win the 2022 John Deere Classic at FanDuel Sportsbook
Updated:
Following the Travelers Championship, the PGA Tour pros head to the Quad Cities for the 2022 John Deere Classic. Just three golfers have odds to win below +2000, and plenty of options to seek out more value and dark horses who could contend.
With longshots in mind, here are three dark horses that could make a run at the 2022 John Deere Classic leaderboard.
2022 U.S. Open Dark Horse Picks
1. Chez Reavie (+5000)
Driving accuracy is the most strongly aligned statistic with success for the past dozen years at TPC Deere Run. That's Reavie's strength, ranking top-5 on Tour and hitting better than 70% fairways. The veteran has been playing well the past two months with three top-20 finishes including a top-10 last week at the Travelers Championship. Better course fit at TPC Deere Run, where he finished T-18 last year and opened with a 64 before an even-par final round 71 dropped him out of the top 10.
2. Doug Ghim (+5400)
Ghim is getting some respect in the betting market despite some struggles the past two months. He did finish T-18 at the Canadian Open recently, and T-18 at 13-under par in this event last year after opening with 66-67 with top-12 Strokes Gained stats in Approach, Ball Striking and Tee-to-Green. Over his previous 50 rounds, Ghim is also top-10 in this field in Ball Striking and Tee-to-Green and top-15 in Approach. Poor putting continues to keep Ghim from finding his groove, but he had one of his better weeks at the Canadian Open.
3. Ryan Moore (+8000)
TPC Deere Run has been a strong course fit for the 39-year-old former Amateur champ and four-time college All-American. Moore won this event in 2016, finished T-2 in 2021 and T-18 in 2019. In 34 rounds at Deere Run, Moore ranks top-3 in this field in Strokes Gained: Total, Ball Striking, Tee-to-Green and top-12 in Short Game, Around the Green and Putting. Moore and Reavie top this field in Fairways Gained and Good Drives Gained at Deere Run as well.
