Cordarrelle Patterson Spotted Wearing 'Free Calvin Ridley' T-Shirt on Falcons Sideline

One of the biggest stories this past offseason was the news of Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley being suspended indefinitely for gambling. With Atlanta finding some surprising success during the 2022 campaign, his absence continues to a major what-if question for a team very much in the playoff hunt.

Teammate Cordarrelle Patterson publicly lobbied for Ridley's return by wearing an intriguing shirt in Week 8.

Patterson sported a "Free Calvin Ridley" t-shirt on the sideline during the team's game against the Carolina Panthers. It's very clear the veteran is trying to send a message to the NFL offices with his apparel choice.

The length of Ridley's suspension has come under fire numerous times this season given the shorter punishments given to other players around the league for much more serious infractions. Ridley undoubtedly broke league rules for his actions, but some have argued missing an entire year for one bet is extreme.

It's amazing to see Patterson so committed to clearing Ridley's name and getting his teammate back on the field. Hopefully the two can be reunited sooner rather than later.

For now, Ridley must wait until Feb. 15, 2023 to apply for reinstatement.
