Colts Get Concerning Jonathan Taylor Injury Update to Begin Week 9

Updated:

The Indianapolis Colts continued to spiral downward in Week 8. Not only did they fall to the lowly Washington Commanders after making a quarterback change, but even more concernignly, star running back Jonathan Taylor was injured during the contest.

Wednesday brought a concerning update on Taylor to begin Week 9 prep.

Head coach Frank Reich told reporters Taylor's ankle is "not 100 percent" following Week 8. The RB is sitting out Wednesday's practice after tweaking the injury against Washington.

This is far from the news Colts fans wanted to hear. Taylor already missed two games with this issue, and now it's affecting him once again. These types of injuries are notoriously troublesome, which prompts real concern about his health given the potential for this to be a recurring problem.

Even after returning, it doesn't seem like Taylor was fully recovered after initially hurting his ankle in Week 4. He's rushed for 134 yards, 0 touchdowns and lost a fumble over his last two outings, not looking at all like the player that made First Team all-Pro in 2021.

Indy's backfield could be very shorthanded if Taylor is out, especially since the team just traded veteran Nyheim Hines at the deadline. That would leave Deon Jackson as the potential lead back against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
