Canelo vs Golovkin III Boxing Opening Odds

Updated:
Canelo Alvarez told ESPN knockout on Monday that plans are in place for a boxing match against Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17, 2022. Of course, these two powerhouse fighters have faced off twice before. The matchup ended in a draw in 2017 and Canelo then gained a narrow victory in 2018.
Canelo vs GGG Opening Odds
The fight is set to take place at 168 lbs, which is where Canelo is still the undisputed champion of the world. Opening odds released on FanDuel Sportsbook reveal that oddsmakers don't see that changing, either. Canelo is a -410 favorite to come out on top, whereas GGG is a +290 underdog.
Canelo owns an impressive record of 57-2-2 with 39 knockouts in his boxing career. It's worth noting that he did just suffer a loss to Dmitry Bivol in early may, his first defeat since 2013. No matter what, the 31-year-old always draws viewers and could use this bout as a way to seal a rematch with Bivol.
Meanwhile, Golovkin has been waiting for this fight for years and has all the motivation in the world to avenge his 2018 loss. The 40-year-old owns a career record of 42-1-1 and has racked up 37 knockouts. The boxer nicknamed "GGG" could put a big dent in Canelo's legacy with an unlikely win.
