Bulls Trade Rumors Heating Up After Poor Start to Season

The Chicago Bulls have had a rough start to the season. Between dealing with injuries and poor play, many around the NBA are speculating that Chicago could "blow it up."

Over the last couple of years, the Bulls have made trades and signing in an attempt to go for it. That plan has fallen flat on its face, leaving them with a roster that isn't working, filled with aging players, and depleted their trade assets.

At just 11-15 on the season, and outside of the Eastern Conference play-in tournament, Chicago doesn't seem to have a legitimate route to improving around this group of core players.

Nikola Vucevic and DeMar DeRozan seem like prime trade candidates, especially since they could net some future first-round picks. Orlando currently owns Chicago's first-round pick in the 2023 draft due to the Vucevic trade. The Lakers, with Russell Westbrook and their 2027 plus 2029 first-round picks, is a natural move to consider, but others could present themselves if the league senses Chicago is ready to deal them.

If things get really bad, we could even see Zach LaVine being put on the trade block. He is the team's best player, but since he just signed a five-year deal with the team this past offseason, he is not eligible to be traded until Jan. 15.

Chicago has the chance to maximize the value of its best players right now in the trade market and build up its assets for the future. A full rebuild can be a really tough pill for a big-market team to swallow, but it's the wisest move for the Bulls to make right now.
