Broncos Get Huge Justin Simmons Injury Update Ahead of MNF

Updated:

The Denver Broncos are gearing up for a Monday Night Football showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. Denver will have to overcome major losses due to injury and their some early struggles in order to pull off the upset.

Thankfully, Denver is expected to get back a huge reinforcement ahead of this AFC West clash.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports safety Justin Simmons is on track to be activated from the injured reserve list before MNF. This is huge news for a defense that's lost key players like Randy Gregory and Ronald Darby recently.

Simmons has been sidelined since Week 2 with a thigh injury he suffered in the season-opener. He was very active in that contest despite suffering the injury at some point, playing 100% of the team's defensive snaps and recording a fumble recovery.

Denver has certainly missed its two-time All-Pro in the secondary. His return gives this unit, which has already been one of the very best against the pass this season, a serious boost -- especially with Darby now out for the year.

Hopefully Simmons is able to make an immediate impact in his first game back. The Broncos will need their secondary clicking on all cylinders if they have any shot at slowing down Justin Herbert.

Denver is a 4.5-point underdog ahead of kickoff, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
