Breeders' Cup Distaff Contenders Announced for 2022

One of the year's biggest weekends in horse racing is upon us with the 2022 Breeders' Cup bringing 14 races across two days on November 4th and 5th.

The races kick off on Friday, but it's really Saturday's final race that most fans and bettors are looking forward to. That's when the Breeders' Cup Distaff race goes down with a $2 million purse at stake.

The contenders were announced on Wednesday, so here's everything you need to know about the field before wagering on the Breeders' Cup Classic on FanDuel Racing.

Breeders' Cup Distaff Contenders

1. Awake at Midnyte

Jockey: TBD
Trainer: Doug F. O'Neill
Breeder: Forty Oaks
Owner: Reddam Racing, LLC

Awake at Midnyte has one win on the year after taking first at Del Mar back on Sept. 4. His most recent finish was a 2nd-place showing at Santa Anita in the Zenyatta Stakes on Oct. 2.

2. Blue Stripe (ARG)

Breeder: La Manija
Owner: Pozo De Luna Inc.

Blue Stripe (ARG) has been dominant this year. The five-year-old has racked up two wins and a 2nd-place finish in its three races so far in 2022.

3. Clairiere

Breeder: Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC
Owner: Stonestreet Stables, LLC

Clairiere has won more often than not in 2022. The Stonestreet Stables-owned horse has finished first in three of its first five races this year.

4. Malathaat

Owner: Shadwell Stable

Malathaat is one of two Todd Pletcher-trained horses in this race. The four-year-old has made the podium in each of its five appearances in 2022, winning three times and placing second twice.

5. Nest

This young horse continues to add wins to its resume. Nest has won in five of seven starts this year, including each of its last three.

Search Results boasts podium finishes in all five appearances this year. The Chad Brown-trained horse has two wins, a 2nd-place finish and two 3rd-place finishes to its name in 2022.

7. Secret Oath

Owner: Briland Farm

Secret has been busy in 2022, recording a whopping eight starts. The filly has seven podium placements (3 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds) to show for it.

8. Society

All Society has done is win in 2022. The three-year-old has won four of its five starts, and enters off two straight first-place finishes at Parx Racing in September and Charles Town in August.
