Belmont Stakes 2023 Weather: Saturday Forecast at Belmont Park Features Uncertain Air Quality

The 2023 Belmont Stakes is ready to kick off on Saturday, June 10 at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. The stakes race has a post time of 7:02 p.m. ET.

While there is no opportunity for a Triple Crown this year at Belmont, plenty of familiar horses and jockeys will be riding in the Test of the Champion.

Belmont Stakes Weather

While the weather is always something to monitor before any outdoor sporting event, things are incredibly unique this year in New York and at Belmont Park. The NYC area has seen the effects of the Canadian wildfires this week with smoke and smog covering the city and surrounding areas, causing many outdoor events (including Thursday's races at Belmont) to be canceled due to the unsafe air quality.

However, with a forecast of much-improved air conditions by Saturday, NYRA has said the Belmont Stakes will go on as planned for now.

In regards to the weather, it should be a beautiful early June day at Belmont Park on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 60s in the morning and reach the mid-70s for much of the afternoon. The sun will be shining most of the day with some slight cloud coverage in the afternoon. Fortunately, there is no precipitation in the forecast, either.

Weather can easily change by the hour, though, and when you add in the factor of the wildfires this year, things become even more unpredictable. Will the horses be troubled by the lower air quality? Will things clear up enough by the race? These are all factors that are fluid and changing in real-time.

For now, though, we have every reason to expect a wonderful day at the racetrack on Saturday to watch the Triple Crown season close out with its toughest test.
