A.T. Perry Scouting Report
Perry had a quiet first two years at Wake Forest before he exploded in 2021. As a redshirt sophomore, Perry popped off for 71 receptions, 1,293 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to All-ACC First Team honors. He kept it going in 2022, earning another First Team selection while recording 1,096 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Perry is a prototypical outside receiver with good size at 6-foot-3, 198. He's full of athleticism and speed, which helped him regularly beat defenders for big plays in college. Given his frame and strong hands, Perry excels in contested catch situations and has the quickness to create separation.
He's not a prospect without flaws, though. Strength is one weakness he'll need to improve at the next level, not only to beat more aggressive cornerbacks but to also make an impact as a blocker. Perry could also get better as a route runner to become more elusive.
A.T. Perry NFL Draft Prediction
After producing like he did in 2021 and nearly replicating those numbers in 2022, Perry's going to have fans ahead of the draft. Though there are flashier names who will be picked ahead of him, the Florida native may turn out to be a steal if he falls to the right team.
The Kansas City Chiefs are the exact kind of franchise that could help Perry thrive. This team is lacking a true outside WR after losing JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency, and the Wake Forest product would instantly complement a corps that features unique weapons like Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Kadarius Toney.
Perry brings the skill set Patrick Mahomes desperately needs from his pass-catchers not named Travis Kelce. It'd be no surprise if Perry picks up right where he left off in college with Mahomes as his QB and Andy Reid as his head coach.
Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs (Round 3, 95th overall)
