3 Greatest Running Backs in Seahawks History
Updated:
The Seattle Seahawks history isn't a long one, debuting in the NFL in 1976. They had their fair share of struggles through their first couple decades, but things have really turned around in the 2000's. With three Super Bowl appearances since 2005, they've been one of the league's premier franchises lately.
The Seahawks have had some great players at plenty of positions, but running back may be their most impressive. Here are the three greatest running backs in franchise history.
Best Seattle Seahawks Running Backs of All Time
3. Curt Warner (1983-1989)
The Seahawks first started finding some postseason success in the 1980's, and Curt Warner played a role in that. To this day he is third in franchise history in both rushing yards (6,705) and touchdowns (55), and he was a three-time Pro Bowler in Seattle.
2. Marshawn Lynch (2010-2015, 2019)
Marshawn Lynch is certainly the most beloved running back in Seahawks history, and Beast Mode was also one of the best. Coming over during the 2010 season in a trade from the Buffalo Bills, he went on to score at least 11 touchdowns in four consecutive seasons from 2011 to 2014. He went to the Pro Bowl in all four seasons, even earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2012. His argument for the No. 1 spot on this list would be even stronger if he'd been given the opportunity to score a certain Super Bowl-sealing touchdown.
1. Shaun Alexander (2000-2007)
Shaun Alexander played just eight years in Seattle, but in that time he did enough damage to set the franchise all-time rushing record, with 9,429 yards to go with 100 touchdowns. The clear peak of his career was the 2005 season, when he led the NFL in both rushing yards (1,880) and touchdowns (27), taking home NFL MVP honors.
