The format of the Six Nations Championship is fairly straightforward. Each of the six teams plays in each of the five rounds — meaning each team plays each other team once.

The winner is determined by whoever is at the top of the table with the most points at the end of the tournament. Unlike most competitions, however, it's not just wins and draws that can help a team climb the table. Points are awarded as follows:

  • Win: 4 points
  • Draw: 2 points

  • Lose by 7 points or fewer: 1 bonus point

2023 Six Nations Rugby Championship Prediction and Best Bet

It may seem like a surprise that France isn't the favorite in 2023 after pulling off the grand slam in 2022, but a deeper look shows us why. Ireland wasn't far behind France at 4-0-1, and they had an absolutely massive +105 point differential in the tournament, compared to just +68 for France. Outside of an incredibly tight French win over the Irish (30-24), Ireland looked like the best team in the tournament.

Ireland is also the No. 1 ranked country in the world, and they are in truly fine form lately. Their 3-0 performance in the Autumn Nations Series in November included wins over world No. 4 South Africa and No. 6 Australia. They also defeated No. 3 New Zealand in two straight test matches prior.

Ireland are the favorites for a reason, and for my money, they probably should be priced as an odds-on favorite with minus odds. That means I love a bet on Ireland +115 here.
