What began as a friendly online feud via X (formerly Twitter) turned into highly anticipated NBA All-Star Weekend event.
The NBA's all-time three-point scorer Stephen Curry challenged WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu to a three-point contest that gained national attention and a primetime slate.
The Stephen vs. Sabrina 3-Point Challenge was the third event on NBA All-Star Saturday, happening between the Starry 3-Point Contest and AT&T Slam Dunk Contest. All the festivities began at 8 p.m. ET on February 17, 2024.
FanDuel Sportsbook users were able to join the action by betting on who would win the shoot-off, along with more specific markets.
What Were the Steph vs Sabrina 3-Point Contest Rules?
Both players made as many three-point shots as they could in 70 seconds. There were five shooting stations along the 3-point line. Each station had five balls — including "standard” balls (one point each) and “money” balls (two points each). This year, the contest also introduced Starry balls, which were worth three points each.
Both players took their shots from the NBA 3-point line, which is over a foot farther from the basket than the WNBA line. Ionescu used WNBA-regulation basketballs, which are slightly smaller than the NBA balls used by Curry.
Who Won the Steph vs Sabrina 3-Point Contest?
Steph Curry beat Sabrina Ionescu by 3 points in a thrilling showdown during the Steph vs. Sabrina 3-Point Contest on February 17th.
Ionescu made a strong opening, sinking seven consecutive shots and finishing with a total score of 26—which tied the highest score of the 3-point contest held earlier that evening.
Curry had a slower start but rallied, hitting nine of his last 10 shots to achieve a total score of 29.

FanDuel Sportsbook had Curry as the favorite at -230. He is currently the best three-point shooter in NBA history with 3,643 three-pointers as of February 16th, 2024. He’s also won the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest twice, in 2015 and 2021.
In opposition, Ionescu won the WNBA 3-Point Contest in 2023, recording 37 of a possible 40 points. That performance beat Curry’s record of 31 of 40 points, which he reached at the 2021 contest. Ionescu's odds were set at +176 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
