The men's soccer tournament at the Paris Olympics has reached the Gold Medal match. The final takes place at noon ET on Friday and pits hosts France versus Spain.

The gold medal matchup gives us a headline clash between Spain and France, two of the powers in world soccer.

It should be a tight affair. While France are a -138 favorite to win the gold medal, they're just +140 to win the match in the 90 minutes (plus stoppage time). If this match was at a neutral site, it would likely be nearly dead even by the betting odds.

France have been pretty dominant this tournament. The hosts have won all five of their matches and have conceded just once while netting 11 goals. They have, however, played a pair of 1-0 matches in addition to needing extra time to move past Egypt in the semifinals on Monday, so they haven't been invincible.

It's a similar story for Spain -- they've been really good but haven't been flawless.

Spain fell to the aforementioned Egypt in the group stage -- although the Spanish had already locked up a knockout-round berth by the time of that game -- but have been peaking at the right time of late, besting Morocco (2-1) and Japan (3-0) in the knockout rounds. Their attack has been really good all tourney, with Spain scoring multiple goals in four of five matches.

Going by the player transfer values at Transfer Markt, these two teams are pretty even. Spain's squad is valued at $370.3 million while France's comes in at $392.6 million. France definitely get a boost from being at home, but Spain should be able to handle the occasion.

In all, we have two top-notch squads that are mostly even, and both sides have performed well this tournament. I think it will lead to close affair where France and Spain are tied at the end of regulation.
