NFL Expert Betting Picks
New Orleans Saints Over 7.5 Wins (-130)
There were plenty of times last year where the vibes around the New Orleans Saints were off. You had linemen shouting at Derek Carr, rogue Jameis Winston last-minute touchdowns, and more.
That's likely part of why their win total is low. But they still managed to win 9 games, 1.5 wins above this number.
Even with some offseason departures and question marks at tackle, they've still got a stout skill group led by Chris Olave. They should be able to move the ball, and Dennis Allen -- despite his flaws as a head coach -- has helped the defense rank inside the top 10 in points allowed four straight years.
The Saints may not light the world on fire, and they might not contend for a Super Bowl. But with a win total this low, they don't have to in order to hit the over.
Jacksonville Jaguars to Win the AFC South (+270)
Thanks to the rise of C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis in the AFC South, we could have a window to buy low on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars. At +270, we're not paying a hefty price to do so.
The Jags are similar to the Saints: even in an underwhelming season, they still managed to win 9 games last year. That was with Lawrence playing hurt at times and missing one game entirely.
They did lose Calvin Ridley in the offseason, but Lawrence didn't have Ridley in 2022, either. He still finished 7th in MVP voting and brought the Jags within a touchdown of a trip to the AFC Championship Game.
The competition is tough here. But with Lawrence at the helm, we should hesitate before counting this team out.
Dallas Cowboys to Win the NFC Conference (+800)
Asking the Dallas Cowboys to topple one of the elite teams in the AFC might be difficult.
But winning the NFC? That seems more doable.
The Cowboys have been the brunt of jokes this offseason after losing key contributors despite Jerry Jones' pledge to go all-in. That criticism is justified as they're threatening to whiff entirely on postseason success with Dak Prescott at quarterback.
It's important to remember all the firepower the Cowboys still have, though. On top of Prescott, they've got superstars at key positions in CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, and Zack Martin and Tyler Smith can provide stability along a rebuilt offensive line. An injury to any of those guys could have a catastrophic effect, but this team undoubtedly has upside.
The San Francisco 49ers deserve to be the favorites. But after that, there's plenty up for grabs. We shouldn't write off the Cowboys yet even with the talent drain they've undergone.
