NFC North Odds: Lions, Packers Lead a Tight Division

With football training camps on the horizon, now is a great time to dive into the robust futures markets via the NFL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Following free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft, FanDuel Sportsbook is offering markets for NFL win totals, odds to make the NFL playoffs, and NFL division odds among others. Although there could still be moves made before the 2024-25 campaign begins, let's dive into the odds and outlook for each team in the NFC North.

As a interesting note, the NFC North is the only grouping wherein all four teams have won a divisional title as recently as 2018.

All NFL odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook, and they may change after this article is published.

Detroit Lions 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 10.5 (+104 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -245
Odds to Win the NFC North: +145
Odds to Win the NFC: +600
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +1500 (8th-best)

Over the past year, the Detroit Lions have taken the NFL by storm. They checked off a few boxes in 2023, winning the division along with two playoff games. Still, Detroit notably fell short of the ultimate prize.

The Lions quest for their initial Lombardi Trophy continues on. As another first, Motor City has never claimed NFC North titles in back-to-back seasons. At FanDuel Sportsbook, Detroit is a short favorite to do just that, listed at +145 odds to win the NFC North. Head coach Dan Campbell squeezed a dozen regular-season wins out of this group last campaign; can they reach or top that mark again in 2024?

A year ago, Detroit Rock City operated with one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFC. With Jared Goff taking the snaps, this unit produced 27.1 PPG. Goff -- behind a top offensive line -- will be back. The same can be said for many of the same multifaceted skill players, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta.

To say that defense is an issue with the Lions would be only partially correct. The front seven -- led by edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson -- is actually quite stout. However, Detroit's secondary was porous in 2023, allowing 7.8 yards per passing attempt. From there, they surrendered a league-high 69 completions of 20 or more yards.

The Lions attempted to address the back end by taking defensive back Terrion Arnold in the first round of the NFL Draft. They also acquired Carlton Davis via trade.

Motor City is striving to at least return to the conference championship game. Per the NFC Championship odds, the Lions come in with the second-shortest number in the market (+600). Is this finally the year we see Honolulu blue in the Super Bowl?

Green Bay Packers 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 9.5 (-134 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -158
Odds to Win the NFC North: +185
Odds to Win the NFC: +850
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +1400 (T4h-best)

The Green Bay Packers appear to have a bright future on the horizon. Head coach Matt LaFleur is seeing his efforts come to fruition in quarterback Jordan Love's improvements. After one full season as the starter, Love managed to complete 64.2% of his passes while showcasing a 32-11 TD-INT ratio.

Like aforementioned Detroit, Green Bay produced a strong 2023 season before it was cut short in the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers. Also in common with the Lions, the Packers employ a quality skill cast on offense. Tailback Josh Jacobs -- who is a former NFL rushing king -- recently joined Green Bay this offseason. On the outside, receivers Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed make up a young and well-rounded corps.

The Pack is currently listed with +185 odds to win the division. Notably, that is just slightly behind their rivals from Motown. G.B. may have gone only 9-8 last year, but in 2024, this group feels poised to make a run.

Over the most recent playoffs, we saw the Packers travel to dismantle the Dallas Cowboys before giving quite a scare to the 49ers in the Divisional Round. Still, Green Bay does have some aspects to address, such as not forcing enough turnovers. The Pack gave up 20.6 PPG (10th) last season, but they swiped only seven interceptions.

Chicago Bears 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 8.5 (-150 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: -110
Odds to Win the NFC North: +320
Odds to Win the NFC: +2200
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +7500 (27th-best)

Madness in the Midway seems to stirring up again; the Chicago Bears have officially entered a new quarterbacking era -- stop me if you've heard that one before.

In all seriousness, da Bears should finally see their signal-caller fortunes changed in 2024. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams dazzled for both the USC Trojans and Oklahoma Sooners while in college, and he'll look to keep that up on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Unlike with Justin Fields, the Heisman Trophy-winner Williams will not be asked to do it all in the Windy City. Chicago now features a rebuilt receiving corps powered by D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen and 6-foot-3 rookie Rome Odunze. Watching them play pitch-and-catch with the rocket-armed Williams should be explosively fun.

The Bears did not have the best defense in 2023, a campaign where they allowed 22.3 PPG. With that being said, head coach Matt Eberflus might be able to help guide a defensive improvement in Chicago, one led by safety Kevin Byard and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds -- both of whom bring strong experience and mentalities. Additionally, edge rusher Josh Sweat was traded for halfway through the most recent campaign and made an immediate impact.

Transparently, this Bears team should be improved across all phases of the game. As of May, the Bears are listed at +320 odds to win the NFC North this upcoming season. Also, Chicago displays a regular-season win total of 8.5 games with -150 odds on the over.

Minnesota Vikings 2024 Outlook

Projected Win Total: 6.5 (-115 on the over)
Odds to Make the Playoffs: +285
Odds to Win the NFC North: +900
Odds to Win the NFC: +3500
Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +8000 (T29th-best)

Like the aforementioned Bears, the Minnesota Vikings are also commencing a new era. With the 10th overall pick at the 2024 NFL Draft, Minnesota selected national-champion quarterback J.J. McCarthy. However, the former Michigan Wolverines star is not guaranteed to start right away for the Vikes.

The Vikings also have veteran signal-callers Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens on their roster. Those two have combined to throw for more than 18,000 yards at the NFL level throughout respective careers, although neither Darnold or Mullens are considered to be a long-term solution at football's most important spot.

Presumably, Minnesota will have the benefit of superstar receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) for a full season in 2024. After him, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson are both studs in the passing game, but Hockenson could miss most of 2024 after a late-season knee injury a campaign ago.

The pro football franchise from the Twin Cities scored just 20.2 PPG last year. Naturally, much of that was due to an inconsistent quarterbacking situation after Kirk Cousins -- who is now with the Atlanta Falcons -- blew out his Achilles in Week 8.

Minnesota has nine-to-one odds to win the NFC North in 2024, making them the clear longshot in this grouping. But that +900 number doesn't make them a crazy longshot. Only the Tennessee Titans -- at eight-to-one odds -- have a shorter divisional listing among all eight fourth-place teams.
