Fantasy Football: 3 Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 7
Streaming quarterbacks remains an integral part of fantasy football for those who were willing to wait on the position in favor of loading up their lineups in drafts.
It's not always the preferred option as putting top-shelf guys in your lineup and forgetting it is always nice, but you can get some great value on the waiver wire each week to start at the position, keeping you competitive on a week-to-week basis.
Whether it's 10-team or 12-team leagues, there's going to be options out there to choose from.
When it comes to streaming a quarterback, there are multiple factors in play with none being more important than the defense they're opposing. From there, you can look at the situation they're in, what they've been doing as of late, and more. All of this matters -- especially when you're trying to find points at the most important position in football.
Injuries and bye weeks continue to rule fantasy football, so here are the best options for quarterback streamers in Week 7.
Quarterback Streamers for Week 7
Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor, New York Giants
Week 7 Opponent: Washington Commanders
As displayed on Sunday Night Football, Tyrod Taylor has enough left in the tank to not only help his team compete but to potentially help out in fantasy football, as well.
Whether it's Taylor or Daniel Jones starting for the New York Giants in Week 7, either of them has great value as a streamer this week against the Washington Commanders.
Washington has allowed 6.6 net yards per pass attempt, the eighth-most, and the third-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (20.2). They've also allowed 12 passing touchdowns, the third-most in the league.
We highlighted this same matchup last week with Desmond Ridder, and he managed to come through for those who rolled him out there. Despite throwing three interceptions against the Commanders, the Falcons' quarterback finished with 19.1 fantasy points -- ranking as the QB4 for the week. The previous finishes against Washington since Week 2 have been QB1 (Justin Fields), QB6 (Jalen Hurts), QB8 (Josh Allen), and QB3 (Russell Wilson). A top-10 finish is a near-lock when playing against this Commanders offense.
If Jones is able to return from his neck injury, he has the potential to get back on track. Remember: Jones has legit upside. He put up 31.7 fantasy points in Week 2. He hasn't totaled that in his other four starts this season combined (29.4 points), so this is the best shot to run him back out there if he can go.
Taylor finished with 10.4 points in his start against the Bills -- going 24-for-36 with 200 passing yards and 24 rushing yards. Nothing to write home about, but it was a decent showing against a top-shelf defense.
The benefit for either of them is that Saquon Barkley will be one week further removed from his high-ankle sprain. We saw the Giants' offense work far better with him just on the field. If he can show more than he did in Week 6, the offense will benefit.
Wait to see who is going to be the starter for the Giants, but both of them are worthy of an add if you're streaming the position.
Sam Howell, Washington Commanders
Week 7 Opponent: New York Giants
It's hard to believe Sam Howell still tracks as a quarterback streamer, but here we are.
The Commanders' signal-caller has had a strong start to his time as a starter. He's thrown for 1,500 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions while adding 104 yards on the ground with another score. This has led to Howell quickly putting together a better fantasy season than his roster percentage is showing.
Howell has averaged 17.7 points per game, leaving him ranked as the QB11 through the first six weeks of the season. If you remove his Week 3 catastrophe against the Bills, he's averaging 20.4 points per game. Not only has he become a streamer in ideal matchups, but he is getting closer and closer to being a weekly starter.
Even though the Giants just held Josh Allen in check, they've been a defense susceptible to the pass. New York has allowed 7.1 net yards per pass attempt, the third-most.
They've also allowed 6.1 yards per play overall, the second-most, so this is a sublime matchup for the entire Washington offense.
Howell is a strong QB2 with QB1 upside moving forward. Due to the bye weeks in Week 7, he's a borderline top-10 start who you can get on the waiver wire.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Week 7 Opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars (Thursday)
Derek Carr has had a rough start to his New Orleans Saints career, but he did have his best statistical (and fantasy) performance of the year in Week 6, which should be a start to build on.
Carr threw for a season-high 353 yards, using the slew of weapons he has at his disposal. The problem was that the Saints finished with only 13 total points, which remains their biggest problem.
However, if Carr is throwing for these type of numbers moving forward, it makes him an exciting play in fantasy -- especially against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jacksonville has allowed 17.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, the 10th-most. They've been a welcoming matchup for aerial attacks while serving as a pass-funnel unit thanks to surrendering the fifth-fewest overall rushing yards to running backs.
Carr was listed as limited in the walkthrough on Monday, so he will need to be monitored with the Thursday night game coming up. The good news for Carr is that he, unlike Trevor Lawrence, has little to worry about in terms of getting on the field and will have the comfort of home to give them the edge.
Enough is in the favor of Carr to make him a good streamer in deeper leagues.
