Finding value is a key part of daily fantasy football on FanDuel. We need to identify the low-salary players who have the potential to pay huge dividends, which allows you to play studs elsewhere in your lineup.

Today, we're looking at players on Wild Card Weekend’s Saturday and Sunday main slates. Saturday’s main slate kicks off at 4:30 p.m. ET, and Sunday’s main slate kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

All betting odds come from the NFL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NFL DFS Value Plays

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins

FanDuel Salary: $7,000

On Saturday’s two-game main slate, Tua Tagovailoa has the lowest salary of the four signal-callers expected to start. At first glance, that seems odds, especially considering that Joe Flacco is on the slate, but Flacco has scored at least 17.0 FanDuel points in all five of his starts this season -- Tagovailoa has reached that threshold just once since Week 12.

After a hot start, the Miami Dolphins' offense cooled off significantly in the second half of the season. On Saturday, they face a Kansas City Chiefs pass defense that ranks third-best by numberFire’s schedule-adjusted metrics. The game is also expected to be played in extremely cold temperatures.

While there are reasons for concern, Tagovailoa is still quarterbacking a Dolphins offense that has four of the most electric playmakers in the league – Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane

Waddle and Mostert are dealing with injuries, but if both are available, it’s a huge boost for Tagovailoa and the outlook for Miami’s entire offense. Even with their late-season struggles, the Dolphins' offense still ranks fifth overall, per numberFire, and their passing game checks in fourth overall. Of the four teams in action on Saturday, the Dolphins rank first in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP; 0.21) by a significant margin.

Tagovailoa is a bet-on-talent choice this weekend. The Dolphins’ recent form is concerning, but Tua's $7,000 salary accounts for that.

Devin Singletary, RB, Houston Texans

FanDuel Salary: $6,400

Devin Singletary is one of the top values available this weekend. According to numberFire's model, he has the highest FanDuel point projection (14.0) among running backs on Saturday’s main slate. His salary, however, is just the fifth-highest.

Among all running backs in action across Saturday and Sunday, Singletary’s projection of 14.0 FanDuel points ranks third, behind only Tony Pollard and Kyren Williams. That is fantastic company.

After a slow start to the season, Singletary has become a key piece of the Houston Texans' offense. Since Week 14, he is averaging 17.6 carries and 2.2 receptions per game -- a stellar workload for a running back with a salary of just $6,400.

In Week 18’s must-win game against the Indianapolis Colts, Singletary totaled 25 touches -- amassing 24 carries for 63 rushing yards and a touchdown and one reception for two receiving yards.

The Cleveland Browns' defense presents a tough challenge for Houston’s entire offense on Saturday, but the Browns have been worse against the run than the pass. Per numberFire, the Browns’ pass defense ranks second while their run defense ranks seventh.

There are efficiency concerns for Singletary. Houston’s rushing offense slots in 31st, per numberFire, and they are far more effective through the air -- their passing game ranks eighth. Singletary will need to make up for that with volume, which his role in recent weeks suggests he can do.

Brandin Cooks, WR, Dallas Cowboys

FanDuel Salary: $6,500

Sunday’s main slate is full of high-salaried wide receivers with excellent projections. For a pass-catcher with a lower salary to match or exceed those studs, touchdowns will be key.

That is something Brandin Cooks has excelled at this season. While CeeDee Lamb has, deservingly, dominated targets in the Dallas Cowboys’ passing game, Cooks has continued to make an impact with the opportunities he receives.

He has eight touchdown catches this season, including five over his last seven games and one apiece in each of his last three. His touchdown projection for this week (0.35) is the sixth-highest among wide receivers on Sunday’s three-game main slate.

Volume is a slight concern for Cooks. With the passing game starring Lamb, Cooks has averaged just 5.8 targets per game since Week 14 -- he is projected to see 5.2 targets against the Packers, according to numberFire.

Cooks will need to make the most of his opportunities, and his matchup provides him with a fantastic opportunity to do so. The Green Bay Packers’ defense ranks 22nd overall and is vulnerable to both the run (21st) and pass (19th). Dallas’ offense ranks second overall but is much more effective through the air (second-best).

Since its bye, Dallas has run its offense through their passing game to great effect. If they continue to do so this weekend, Cooks can make his opportunities count.

Tyler Higbee, TE, Los Angeles Rams

FanDuel Salary: $5,200

Tyler Higbee sat out Week 18’s game with a shoulder injury. After opening the week with a limited practice on Wednesday, he is trending in toward being active for Sunday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.

If Higbee is out there, he will be part of a contest that features the highest total of the weekend (51.5 points). Both the Los Angeles Rams and Lions made the playoffs on the strength of their offenses and in spite of their defenses. The Rams’ offense ranks eighth -- with a passing game that ranks seventh -- and their defense ranks 21st. The Lions’ offense ranks fourth, and their defense ranks 23rd.

In short, this game is set up for a shootout.

The Rams’ passing game runs through superstars Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, but Higbee has carved out a consistent role for himself. Over his last five games, he is averaging 4.8 targets and 4.0 receptions per contest.

Higbee is projected to see 4.7 targets this weekend, per numberFire, the fourth-most among tight ends on Sunday’s main slate. His touchdown projection (0.23) ranks third, just 0.01 behind Buffalo’s Dalton Kincaid.

Higbee offers a way to gain exposure to an excellent game environment at an easy-to-like salary.
