3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 12/6/23
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.
Steven Stamkos To Score a Goal (+175)
The Tampa Bay Lightning have a 3.42 implied goal total and some player props worth targeting tonight.
Steven Stamkos continues to be a high-volume shooter for the Lightning, coming in averaging over three shots on goal per game, making him a great target for a goal prop. He comes in with just one goal in his last five games but maintains a high shot volume.
Stamkos also skates on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, giving him the most amount of offensive potential you can have. Considering the Lightning have the second-best (31.0%) power-play in the league, they're always a great option for some goal props.
For the Penguins, they've been solid over the last two weeks allowing only 1.60 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-best in the league. However, if we glance at their Expected Goals Allowed (xGA), they are up at 2.75 Goals, allowed, which is the 13th worst in the league.
Their defense is due for some negative regression and with the role Stamkos has, he should have plenty of chances to get that rolling tonight.
Sebastian Aho Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-125)
If you like offense, the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilersmatchup is for you.
This season, both teams are in the top four of the league in total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. They have a ton of offensive-minded players and look to push the pace on offense when they can.
If I'm expecting a free-flowing back-and-forth game, I want a player prop that correlates with that and it leads me to Sebastian Aho over 2.5 shots on goal.
Aho is averaging 3.3 shots on goal per game this season while skating on the top forward line and the top power-play unit. He's been over this mark in six of his last 10 games, including four straight where he had six shots on goal three times.
Mark Stone Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+132)
The Vegas Golden Knights are due for a bounceback game against the St. Louis Blues tonight.
These two teams played just two days ago with the Blues coming away with a 2-1 victory and it's time for Vegas to get some revenge.
Whether we look at the entire season or over the last two weeks, the Blues are in the bottom 10 of the league for the most Shot Attempts allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. Opposing teams are consistently firing the puck at a high volume and it offers some value in the prop market.
This leads us to Mark Stone, who is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. He's been over this mark in four of his last 10 games but given the matchup and odds, this is very clearly a prop worth targeting.
