3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Wednesday 11/1/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Clayton Keller To Score a Goal (+150)

The Arizona Coyotes have a solid 3.38 implied goal total tonight versus the Anaheim Ducks in a game that should offer plenty of scoring.

The Ducks are on a four-game winning streak and simply playing over their heads right now. To this point in the season, the Ducks are only allowing 1.72 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-best in the league.

However, if we look at their Expected Goals Against (xGA), they are up at 2.74, which would be the 12th-worst. This is due to the fact they have a 65.07 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-worst.

They are giving up an insane number of shot attempts every game but are allowing so few goals. That is unsustainable, and regression is going to hit.

This leads us to Clayton Keller, who is off to a strong start this season with 4 goals, 4 assists, and 28 shots on goal through eight games. He's on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, giving him plenty of chances to fire the puck. As usual, he's a high-volume shooter who hasn't scored in a few games, making him a clear target for a goal tonight.

Nathan MacKinnon Over 5.5 Shots on Goal (+120)

If any team needs a bounce-back game, it's the Colorado Avalanche.

The Avs have been shut out in each of their last two games, which is essentially unheard-of for one of the best offenses in the league. This is a "get right" spot for them back at home with a slate-high 3.79 implied goal total against the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues come in with a 70.04 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league. They are one of the worst defenses in the NHL and allow teams to shoot the puck early and often.

Nathan MacKinnon leads the entire NHL with 47 shots on goal through eight games, which is good for 5.8 shots on goal per game. He's the center on the top forward line and the top power-play, as he is one of the main drivers of their offense.

With the Avs needing a big bounce-back game, expect MacKinnon to lead the way tonight.

Jeff Skinner Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+126)

With a 6.5 over/under, we should see a back-and-forth game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Both teams are in the top 12 of the league for the most goals scored per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, making this a bit of a powder keg waiting to explode.

Lots of scoring means lots of shot attempts, and Jeff Skinner is doing that on a regular basis for the Sabres.

Skinner comes in with 34 shots on goal in nine games, or 3.7 shots on goal per game. He's had at least three shots on goal in seven straight games and at least four shots on goal in six of those games.

He's a primary shooter for them on their second forward line and first power-play unit, making this a very straightforward prop to target.
