NHL Prop Bets
Kyle Connor To Score a Goal (+155)
With a strong matchup, the Winnipeg Jets should look to pile up the goals against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight.
Since the start of January, the Flyers are allowing 2.90 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-worst in the league. They also sit in the top 10 of the league for the most penalty minutes this season, something that puts Kyle Connor in a great spot.
As a team, the Jets are generating 64.91 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-highest in the NHL since the start of January.
Connor skates on the first forward line and the first power-play for the Jets, which has allowed him to pile up 18 goals and an average of 4.0 shots on goal in 32 games this season. He's a high-volume shooter for the Jets and comes in with 21 shots on goal over his last five games but hasn't been able to score.
With Philly's defense struggling, Connor is primed to find his groove and put one in the back of the net.
Sam Reinhart Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-114)
The Florida Panthers have a 3.30 implied goal total against the Washington Capitals, in what should be a straightforward game for the Panthers.
The Capitals are in the midst of a downward spiral as they sit in the bottom 12 of the league in Goals allowed (2.97) and Total Shot Attempts Allowed (61.15), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the start of January.
With the Panthers coming off a loss, I love this spot as a clear rebound game for them, which starts with them firing the puck early and often.
Since the turn of the calendar year, the Panthers' offense has generated a whopping 67.94 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-best in the league.
This leads me to Sam Reinhart, who has 28 shots on goal over his last 10 games, including his most recent game where he didn't record a shot on goal. He's on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, so there's plenty of time for him to pile up the shots.
Martin Necas Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-128)
With two high-octane offenses going head-to-head, we should see plenty of action when the Carolina Hurricanes host the Colorado Avalanche.
When it comes to pushing the pace on offense, these two teams are routinely in the top five or top 10 of the league for Total Shot Attempts Created. They play fast, move the puck well, and generate as many scoring chances as they can.
However, the one main difference between these teams is that the Avalanche also allows a ton of shot attempts from opposing teams. Since the start of January, the Avs have allowed the eighth-most (62.37) Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
This puts the Hurricanes in a solid spot and points me to Martin Necas, who skates on the second forward line and the second power-play unit.
Over the last 10 games, Necas has a total of 30 shots on goal, while his two linemates have a combined total of 30 shots on goal. Necas is the primary shooter on the second forward line and the same can be said about the second power-play unit.
With this type of matchup, Necas should look to maintain that shot-first role and push the offense forward tonight.
