Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Matt Duchene

To Score a Goal (+270)

The Dallas Stars need a bounceback game and will look to get the offense going versus the Minnesota Wild tonight.

With three straight losses, the Stars need to turn things around against a divisional opponent and are primed to do so with a 3.47 implied goal total tonight.

Over the last two weeks, the Stars are scoring 3.42 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fifth-best in the league. While they are scoring plenty of goals as a team, Matt Duchene has no goals in his last seven games.

This isn't for the lack of trying as he has 12 shots on goal and 6 assists in these last seven games. A role on the second forward line and the first power-play are great for offense, he just isn't getting pucks to the back of the net.

With the Wild having taken the third-most (454) penalty minutes this season, Duchene and the Stars should have plenty of chances to pile up the chances and find some goals.

Brock Boeser

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-106)

A matchup of two of the best teams in the league should see plenty of scoring when the Vancouver Canucks visit the New York Rangers.

With 149 goals in 39 games, Vancouver is the league's highest-scoring team, so looking for offensive player props is always a viable route.

Over the last two weeks, the Canucks are generating 64.54 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th best in the league. That is higher than their season rate of 55.62 Total Shot Attempts generated.

The league's best offense is continuing to apply offensive pressure and that leads us to Brock Boeser for some shots tonight.

Boeser comes in averaging 2.7 shots on goal per game while skating on the first forward line and the first power-play unit. He's been over this mark in six of his last 10 games and with a 6.5 total tonight, we should see plenty of scoring chances for both teams.

Evgeni Malkin

Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-125)

The Battle of Pennsylvania adds another chapter tonight when the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Penguins are trending up and the Flyers are trending down, which could make this a one-sided game. Since the start of the new year, the Flyers are allowing the 10th-most (3.21) Goals and the 13th-most (62.8) Total Shot Attempts, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

While this is a small sample size, it's been an ongoing trend for the Flyers after an unsustainably hot start.

During that same time, the Penguins are generating the fourth-most (69.5) Total Shot Attempts and scoring the 11th-most (2.93) Goals, both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. The Penguins' offense is knocking at the door and it leads me to Evgeni Malkin.

With time on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, Malkin has crossed this 2.5 prop in seven of his last 10 games, and four of his last five. The chances have been there for Malkin and a defense trending in the wrong direction shouldn't slow him down.
